This beer brings back many fond memories. Randy and I ventured to France on vacation for 17 days in the year 2000. We were there visiting his family. I already had a taste for fine beer for quite a few years. This beer, Leffe Blonde was everywhere in the south of France. We had countless bottles of this. This is the first time I has seen Leffe for sale in Muncie, Indiana.
If I tasted this not knowing its name I would say it is a little too sweet and too Hefe-like for a Belgium ale. It definitely smells of banana. I have had better. Knowing I am drinking Leffe Blonde puts me back in Montpellier France. Good times.

This just became available in my neck of the woods too. I was excited to try it just because it is a well-known belgian beer that I have not tried. I think it is a nice tasting beer but like you said, it could be dried out a little more. My favorite style of beer is Belgian Golden Strong Ale so naturally I would prefer a little extra umph but I think this is a great beer for when you are in the mood for a BGS but want to drink them all night long.
Fond memories for me, too, even though by most standards it's a pretty ho-hum Belgian ale. Had I not gotten engaged while a glass of Leffe kept me cool in the midst of a killer French heatwave, I don't think it would mean quite so much to me.
The Tripel & Radieuse are the ones to try, I reckon.
I first had this in Budapest and Bratislava. Than I found it on the shelf here in Chicago and maybe it my fond memories but it tastes different. They have an equally standard Dubbel that i also enjoyed. It was cheaper than most of the flimsy mass marketed lagers they had in most Eastern European stores.
